Vegetarians need not read any further. My daughter decided to forgo her mandatory trip to In-N-Out Burger on her last visit to LA and insisted we go for the trendy Umami Burger. It is the latest craze in town, for those of us who are still eating meat.
We both got the SoCal Burger which comes with butter lettuce, an oven-roasted tomato, american cheese, caramelized onions, and their house spread. The house-ground beef was divine, deep on flavor and a few notches above our beloved In-N-Out, but so was the price. It was ten dollars compared to three, but really worth it.
We went for the side order of pickles for 5 dollars, and skipped the fries. In case you're wondering, Umami means the fifth taste. Don't ask me what the first four are.
